Important notice
As you may have seen in the media and on the Ministry of the Interior’s website, the Government of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a decree imposing draconian penalties on persons who hold an official Ministry of the Interior ID without authorisation, on persons holding badges that contain elements of the Ministry’s official ID, and on legal entities that issue such badges.
As a patriotic organisation, the World Police Counter-Terrorism Organisation CTO supports this decree of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which will certainly help in the fight against the unauthorised use of badges. However, we point out that the decree does not clearly define which organisations are in breach when it comes to issuing membership badges.
CTO badges carry no visual elements of the Ministry of the Interior or of the Republic of Serbia, so the decree cannot apply to them. Even so, we have not received an official statement from the Ministry specifying which organisations may continue to issue badges. Until this is resolved, we kindly ask our members not to carry their membership badges and not to use our car stickers, so that they do not find themselves in an awkward situation during police checks. We are temporarily suspending the production of souvenirs and the issuing of badges in the Republic of Serbia until we receive official confirmation from the Ministry that our members are safe.
